Dental Inlays & Onlays in Yorkville, Toronto
Our Yorkville dentists use dental Inlays & Onlays to repair a tooth with decay or damage that is too advanced for a regular dental filling, or after a procedure like a root canal.
What Are Inlays & Onlays?
Like a dental filling, and inlay fits within the edge of the surface of the tooth (called the cusp). It is a custom-made filling, and the procedure is completed over two visits.
First, your dentist will prepare the tooth, cleaning it to remove any decay or damage. Your dentist is then able to take an impression of the area.
The custom inlay will be made using this impression. A temporary filling is put in place until the custom inlay is made. On your second visit, the temporary filling is removed, and the inlay is bonded in place.
Dental onlays are similar to dental inlays but covers a larger portion of the tooth – extending past the cusp. They are also custom made to fit your tooth and take two appointments to complete.
