Dental Bonding in Yorkville, Toronto
If you have chipped, broken or discoloured teeth, cosmetic bonding might be a great option for you. Our Toronto dentists use cosmetic bonding to change the look of our patients' smiles, often in one appointment at our Yorkville dentist office.
What is Cosmetic Bonding or Tooth Bonding?
Cosmetic or teeth bonding is the application of a special resin that can be shaped and hardened to fix broken, chipped or discoloured teeth. Unlike veneers that have to be custom-made, bonding can be done in one office visit. This makes it a great solution for a chipped front tooth!
Dental Bonding in Yorkville: How much does it cost?
The cost of cosmetic bonding varies depending on the amount of work that needs to be done. If you are interested in cosmetic bonding as a way to change your smile, our Yorkville dentist will discuss how cosmetic bonding can be used as part of your treatment plan and what the cost will be.
How does Cosmetic Bonding work?
Cosmetic bonding works by bonding a composite resin to the tooth – to change the shape, colour or even protect an exposed root if the gums have receded.
The first step is to select a shade of composite resin that best matches your natural teeth. Your dentist will then prepare the tooth by gently abrading the surface to make sure the resin sticks. The tooth is then coated in a conditioning liquid, which also helps ensure the bonding material adheres.
Once the tooth is prepared, your dentist applies thin layers of the resin to the tooth, which can be shaped and smoothed until it is the desired shape. Then the material is hardened with a special light.
Once it’s fully hardened, the bonding resin can be further shaped and trimmed. Then it is polished until it matches your natural teeth.
